DPP Will Appeal Sentence Of Rapist Stepfather

The Director of Public Prosecutions, Christopher Pryde, will appeal the sentence imposed on a stepfather convicted and sentenced for rape on the grounds that the sentence of 14 years was manifestly lenient having regard to the facts and the circumstances of the case.

The 32-year-old man was convicted of three representative counts of rape and one count of act with intent to cause grievous harm to his 10-year-old stepdaughter in the High Court on 26 July 2018.

The Petition of Appeal was filed in the Court of Appeal Registry yesterday (5.9.18).
