Accused Told To Engage Lawyer

A man who was allegedly involved in an attack on Police officers at Nabua, Suva, last month appeared in the High Court yesterday.
Jone Vakarisi appeared before Justice Daniel Goundar for another case in which he is charged with one count of criminal trespass, one count of damaging property and one count of act with intent to cause grievous harm.
Justice Daniel Goundar asked the accused to engage a lawyer soon so that he can be represented next time he appears in court for this case.
Justice Goundar noted that Vakarisi allegedly committed another offence while on bail for the existing case.
Vakarisi replied that it was still an allegation.
Vakarisi is one of eight men who allegedly attacked Police officers near the Mead Road Housing Complex in Nabua last month, a matter that is before Magistrate Liyanage Wikramasekara.
Vakarisi is to appear before Justice Vinsent Perera on September 17 for mention.
He was further remanded in custody and a production order was issued for the accused to be present in court on the next date. Edited by Epineri Vula
