Ratu Kadavulevu School celebrated winning the Under 14, U15, U16, U19 and U18 grades of the Powerade Super Deans competition yesterday.

Principal Peni Veivoli said the celebration was in recognition of their achievement.

“We have a story to tell about our achievement in sports and that’s why we celebrate success,” he said.

Chief guest and National Substance Abuse and Advisory Council chief executive officer Manoa Senikarawa added RKS has set a platform in rugby for other schools.

“What sets RKS from the rest is the humility, discipline and their fitness,” Senikarawa said.

He thanked parents, teachers and old scholars for supporting the teams throughout the competition.

All in God’s Hands: Loaloa

Not being named in the extended squad for the Fijian Under-18 team did not disheartened Ratu Kadavulevu School flanker Alivereti Loaloa.

Raised by his grandmother, Vinaina Kaivu, Loaloa said she had always taught him to put everything in God’s hands.

The Natasa, Kadavu native said a week later he was called to join the squad.

Loaloa said now all his sacrifice during training has been paid off and he knows hard work is needed to maintain his spot in the squad.

“At first not seeing my name on the list, I knew that I had to leave everything to God,” Loaloa said.

“I know he has greater plans for me.

“After everything that my grandmother and I have sacrificed during training and to be chosen I will give my best on and off the field.”

Loaloa said being away from his family is tough.

“My aim is to continue playing rugby and representing my country.

“It’s all in God’s hands.”
