The Tavua football side are hoping to beat Dreketi today to keep their spot in next year’s Vodafone Premier League competition after they held Labasa 0-0 at Garvey Park, yesterday.

What happened: Tavua started strongly as they dominated possession but failed to score.

Their best chance came in the 27th minute to striker Vilitati Kautoga but was not able to find the mark.

Labasa defended well and kept Tavua under pressure during the game.

They came close to scoring through Edwin Sahayam but was denied by the strong Tavua defence.

Big play: Tavua’s Kautoga proved dangerous for the Labasa side whenever he had the ball but lady luck was not on his side

Comments: Labasa manager Nilesh Lal said: “Tavua came out strong and they did well to hold us back. We have another match to go and we will try to win that as well.”

Tavua coach Nazil Ali said: “We played well but we missed plenty scoring opportunities. Now we have to win that last match tomorrow.”
