Fijian U16 Keep Low Profile

The Vodafone Fijian Under-16 football team are taking things as they come while preparing for the OFC U16 semi-final clash against favourites Solomon Islands tomorrow.
Speaking to OFC Media, Fijian U16 coach Yogendra Dutt did not reveal much but indicated that they are working on areas they need to improve on.
“We will get back together and talk about what needs to be improved in our next match,” he said.
The Fijians upset New Caledonia 1-0 in their final pool match to cement their semi-final spot.
Going into the match, the Fijians knew a win or a draw would take them through to the semi-final, but for New Caledonia only a win would do but they fell short.
“From the beginning we anticipated that it would be a tough game because it was important for New Caledonia, as well as for us and it turned out to be a very tough match.
“We knew they would come out fighting because their loves attacking so we came to this game prepared,” Dutt added.
Playing in front of their fans at Lawson Tama Stadium, the Solomon Island had been in top form as they hammered defending champions New Zealand 5-0.
They play Fiji in the first semi-final followed by the New Zealand, Tahiti showdown.
