The Ministry of Fisheries new website will not only bring services closer to the people but has gone a step further to make it more interactive for its users in the rural and maritime areas.

In launching the website this afternoon, the Ministry’s acting Permanent Secretary Naipote Katonitabua said: “A website is like an electronic brochure and a source of information that is accessed by the public 24 hours a day.

“It is where we tell the public about what we do, what we are interested in and what we can offer,” Mr Katonitabua said.

The users of the website will be able to access information and forms, as well as call headquarters in Suva, should the need arise.

The Ministry’s staff in the nine stations situated in the four divisions will be on hand to help Fijians in the rural areas to access this service.

The website was the vision of the late former Permanent Secretary for the ministry, Sanaila Naqali and to mark the event, his widow, Emali Naqali was invited as a special guest.

Also in attendance were the permanent secretaries for the Ministry of Employment Salaseini Daunabuna and Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources, Malakai Finau.
