Kontiki Finance yesterday provided $4,000 for the an­nual Pineapple Cup compe­tition.

First played in 1928, the 90th edi­tion was launched at the Suva Bowling Club yesterday

The two-day competition start’s this Saturday and ends on Sunday.

Club media liaison officer Abdul Kalim acknowledged Kontiki Fi­nance for their financial support.

“We have a new sponsor in Kon­tiki Finance and we are so thank­ful,” Kalim said

“This is the 90th year of the com­petition and we are proud to have a sponsor to back us up.

“This is one of the major events in the bowling calendar and we are expecting 60 bowlers to compete for the main prize.”

Kontiki Finance head of products and distribution Phillip Lacey said the company is proud to be associ­ated with bowling.

“We are very happy to be sponsor­ing another tournament like this,” Lacey said

“There is no other trophy like this in the world as it is unique.

“As sponsor, the more the par­ticipant that come and support the competition the better.”

The defending champion for the Pineapple Cup is Semesa Naiseru­vati
