Fiji’s Sixth Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, Ambassador Manasa Tagicakibau, presented his credentials to the President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping on September 10.

The meeting took place at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

In receiving Ambassador Tagicakibau’s Letter of Credence, President Xi welcomed him to China and expressed his sincere greetings and good wishes to President Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konrote, and the Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, the Government and Fijians.

He also recalled his two visits to Fiji and emphasised that China is willing to further enhance political mutual trust, deepen pragmatic cooperation and people-to-people exchanges, and strengthen coordination and co-operation in international affairs.

Ambassador Tagicakibau in his reciprocal statement conveyed to President Xi the cordial greetings of President Konrote, and Mr Bainimarama, on behalf of the Government and the people of Fiji.   

He acknowledged China’s support towards Fiji’s development path, while also assuring President Xi Jinping of Fiji’s commitment to the “One China Policy”.

Diplomats at the Fiji Embassy in Beijing, Counsellor Ratish Singh,  First  Secretary Apolosi Lewaqai and Second Secretary Amelia Cobona-Werelagi  were also there.
