Businessman Mahen Bilmoria is promoting rugby in his hometown Ba.

He gave $200 and medals to Nasolo rugby side after winning the Ba Rugby Union challenge shield. The team defeated Nail­aga 15-13.

Bilimoria believes on the importance of supporting rugby in his hometown.

“I believe it was only fair that I help them with the game they love.

“I want to see rugby in Ba grow to be like football and see more players reach na­tional level,” Bilimoria said.

Ba Rugby president Malakai Vukinava­nua said they have started selection for the new season.

“We need to be selecting players and con­duct off-season programme.

“We are grateful that Bilimoria stepped in to assist us with cash prizes, shield and medals and encouraging more players to participate in the Ba rugby competition,” Vukinavanua said.

Over the years Ba has produced promi­nent national rugby players like the late Isikeli Cagilaba, Filimoni Delasau, Gabirieli Naborisi, Pio Tuwai, Waisea Nacuqu and Toulon-based brothers Josua Tuisova and Filipo Nakosi.
