Man Gets Over 9 Years Imprisonment For Aggravated Robbery

A 32-year-old man charged with aggravated robbery has been sentenced to nine years, six months and 10 days imprisonment with a non-parole period of seven years, six months and 20 days.

Joseph Christopher was sentenced by High Court judge Justice Chamath Morais yesterday.

Christopher had stolen $3400 cash on November 17, 2016 in Nabua, Suva.

While delivering his sentence, Justice Morais said that majority of the assessors had also found Christopher guilty and they had also stated that the evidence provided by the prosecution was truthful and reliable.

He also said the victim was attacked twice during the incident and Christopher had other previous convictions.

Christopher was given 28 days to appeal against his sentence to the Court of Appeal.
