Everyone should practise proper disposal of rubbish.

This was emphasised by the Vodafone Fiji Head of Enterprises and Development Antonio Kitione while opening the Vodafone Ba Riverside Carnival at Ba Riverside Grounds on Wednesday.

“Rubbish disposal is something that should not only be taught in schools but practised at home as well,” he said.

“Proper rubbish disposal would help us safeguard our environment from all the harmful effects.”

Mr Kitione said the carnival would be a major platform for the contestants to raise awareness on the theme.

The theme for this year’s carnival is “Our Rubbish—Our Responsibility”

Mr Kitione said the Government of the day had made adequate avenues for rubbish disposal and it was everyone’s responsibility to follow it.

He said the festival was one of the major paths to getting people from different ethnic backgrounds together.

The crowning of the Miss Vodafone Ba Riverside Carnival queen will take place tomorrow.
