A total of 634,120 voters have been registered by the Fijian Elections Office as at September 17.

This was the statement issued by Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem yesterday at the FEO Media Centre in Toorak, Suva.

The voter breakdown are as follows:

  • Central Division, there are 262,629 registered voters;
  • Eastern Division, there are 25,877 registered voters;
  • Western Division, there are 243,183 registered voters;
  • Northern Division, the number of registered voters stands at 94,390.
  • Overseas voters account for 8041

Mr Saneem said the oldest voter on the Voter Roll is a 117 years-old individual residing in the Northern Division.

“John Wesley College is still the Polling Venue with the highest number of voters with 5203 voters assigned to this location.”

This was an increase of 31 voters from the 2014 General Election.

Meanwhile, Sabata Village in Serua is now the Polling Venue with the lowest number of voters with 14 persons registered at this Venue.

“There are 314,686 registered female voters and 319, 434 registered male voters,” said Mr Saneem

The number of new registrations from July 31 to September 21 2018 stands at 2421.

In addition, a total of 196 individuals have been removed from the Roll as they were deceased.

“In total, the FEO has to date removed 24,426 deceased voters including 14,892 in 2018 alone,” Mr Saneem said.

Also, for the same timeframe in the 2014 General Election they had registered 591,101 voters.

“This is an increase roughly in 40,000 voters.”
