Tabia is adamant of a positive outing at the Vanua Levu Muslim Sports Inter-District Championship at Subrail Park in Labasa.

Tabia team secretary Sheik Daud said the team has been participating for 13 years in the premier competition.

There are 13 teams in the premier division and the defending champion is Taveuni.

“Even though we have never won, we are happy that we have a lot of veteran players in the team,” Daud said.

“ We are confident of making a mark in 2018.

“There are 16 players in the team and we would like to thank all those who provided us support.”

Sahadat Hussain, one of the veteran players who joined the team in 2005, said the tournament over the years has improved.

“I would like to thank the Vanua Levu Muslim Sports Association for organising this annual event,” Hussain said.

“It is a 10-day tournament and it is not only about competition but coming together as one family and rejoicing.”
