A permit by the Fiji Trades Union Congress to march and rally in Suva is now under the verification process.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed that the Police are in the verification process before a decision was made.

The FTUC march and rally is planned for September 29 from the Suva Flea Mark to the Ratu Sukuna Park in Suva at 10 am.

In a statement dated September 5th, 2018, the FTUC national secretary, Felix Anthony, said the National Executive Board of the FTUC had met and evaluated the situation facing workers.

The FTUC claimed that critical issues facing workers were not being acted upon by Government.

The reason for march is stated to be on: Minimum wage of $4, imposition of individual contracts and denial of collective bargaining, delay in Labour Law review, right to strike, Air Terminal Services disputes, and the decimation of tripartism.
