Dreketi Target Final Spot

Dreketi was judged the best dressed team in the 2018 Vanua Levu Muslim Inter-District Championship at Subrail Park in Labasa.

There are 12 teams competing in the Super Premier division and 13 teams in Premier division.

Coach Ramnish Mani said they were surprised to win this award.

“We have 19 players competing in the Premier division and we have never won the tournament,” Mani said.

“Last year we played in the final and lost to Taveuni 1-0.

“This year we aim to make it to the elimination and the finals.

“So far we have five points after two draw with Seaqaqa and Wailevu and a win against Nadogo 1-0.

“We have no overseas players, district or national reps.

“We have three players from the western division in Shameer Khan, Haroon Khan, Mosheen Khan and two from Suva Shiraaz Hassan and Rizwan Khan who are originally from Dreketi.

“Due to work commitments they couldn’t make it for the training and after three matches we found out that getting the right combination has been very challenging for us.

“Next year we need to name the squad early so that we can start training well before the tournament starts.

“I would like to thank our sponsor Dreketi Contractors and families for their support.

“I have been coaching this team for three years and it is a best disciplined team.”
