Officer Cadet Talei Qasevakatini has one thing on her mind after the sliding ceremony at Nadi’s Black Rock on Monday, to become an officer for the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) after their 11 months training.

The Sila villager of Nadroga is one of 101 cadet officers to undertake the Officer Cadet Course.

There are 77 male and 24 female cadets.

“My main objective is to prove myself during the course and at the end to become an officer for the RFMF.

“Being an officer cadet in a male-dominated institution is very challenging but we females can achieve what males can do – especially with the assistance of the instructors.”

Commander of the RFMF Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto told the Officer Cadets to monitor their learning development throughout the Officer Cadet Course. This includes the five Cs – Character, Competence, Confidence, Connection and Care.

“This institution is for those who lose their selfishness and care for others,” he said.
