Truck Driver Airlifted To CWM Hospital After Vunisea Jetty Mishap
The ten wheeler truck that fell off the Vunisea Jetty on September 24, 2018.

The driver of a ten-wheeler truck was airlifted to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital yesterday and is admitted at the Intensive Ccare Unit.

The victim was driving a ten wheeler truck and accompanied by two others on Monday afternoon. While trying to reverse on the Vunisea Jetty in Kadavu, he allegedly lost control of the vehicle due to loose gravel causing the truck to plunge into the sea.

All three managed to swim to safety. While the two passengers were treated and sent home, the driver sustained serious injuries and has been admitted to the Vunisea Hospital since the day of the accident.

“The vehicle is now fully submerged underwater,” Police Spokesperson, Ana Naisoro said.

It is understood that the vehicle belonged to a contracted private company in Vunisea.
