The current economic trend is a major driver towards industrial growth and development, says Parveen Bala.

The Minister for Local Government and Housing Parveen Bala made the remarks while officiating the opening the Govind Naidu Concrete Block Ltd—a subsidiary to Govind Seniyasi Industries Supplies Enterprise in Yasiyasi, Tavua yesterday.

“The growth pattern of this business shows the confidence level currently present in our economy and the expansion of economic pattern,” Mr Bala said.

He said that developments such as this was crucial for the people of Tavua.

“Tavua town is certainly going through such investments becoming a robust Gross Domestic Contributor (GDP) and I’m convinced that over the next two to three years, more investments will be visible in the Tavua area.”

Mr Bala said that the factory would create employment opportunities for many people as well.

“This cement factory has alone generated 14 employments,” he said.

Mr Bala said the political stability was key to seeing such developments taking place within the country.

“Investment will always be high in an environment where there is stability supported by the right policies,” he said.

He said that the Government’s ability to drive investment forward would also be noteworthy for the future generations.

“Number of building permits received and buildings under construction is steadily increasing with 469 building applications worth an estimated $600 million building permits have been received in township as during the first the first quarter this year,” he said.

Mr Bala said that the Government’s effort in getting everyone to be a part of the economic cycle was producing positive results.
