A Chinese national who was charged with one count of being found in possession of illicit drugs appeared at the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday.

Xi Ming Ying appeared before Magistrate Waleen George yesterday.

It is alleged that on September 19, 2018, she was found in possession of 0.03 grams of methamphetamine at a massage parlour in Tamavua, Suva.

Defence lawyer Jitendra Reddy told the court that the accused needed a Mandarin interpreter to assist her in court proceedings.

He said the accused had been served with the full disclosures.

Magistrate George told the court that the interpreter was out of the country and would be back next month.

The matter was adjourned to October 31 for mention to check on the interpreter.

Xi’s bail has been extended.
