We Need To Get Back On Track: Figg

The Fiji Airways Drua team is expected to demolish the NSW Country Eagles today with its devastating unorthodox play backed up by the best attacking statistics in the Australian National Rugby Championship.
Eagles vice-captain and No.8 Sam Figg admitted that his side are still struggling in the competition and are in seventh spot in the ladder with only five points from one win.
“We are really feeling excited to play the Fijian Drua,” he said.
“Rugby is obviously massive for the Fijian culture given the chance to come over to play the Fijians and get the Fijian hospitality.
“It has not been the best start for the team. We are still in the hunt for the final. And hope a good win over the Fijians tomorrow would put us back on track.”
Figg who also represented the Australian 7s team during the HSBC World Sevens Series knows exactly what the expectation on Fijian soil is like when it comes to rugby.
“Definitely, to come over here with the Fijian home crowd we expect a very physical tough side and won’t be an easy match for us,” he added.
“The Fijians play with a lot of flair, a lot of trick passes and things like that so we will slow the game down and focus on the set pieces and try to win this one.”
The side will be without their key players who are with the the Wallabies in South Africa. Their star players are Kurtley Beale, Sekope Kepu, Tom Robertson, Ned Hanigan and Silatolu Latu.
However, the side have been boosted with the services of Seb Wileman, Jed Holloway, Nick Champion De Crespigny, Alex Newsome, and Alex Gibbons.
“There are couple of players missing and we’ve guys taken over by the Wallabies but definitely it’s not any excuse,” he said.
