There will be new winners in the Vanua Levu Muslim Sports Inter-District Championship.

This was after defending Super Premier champions Batinikama suffered a 1-0 loss to Wailevu while Taveuni failed to make it to the next round of the Premier division.

Tournament committee spokesperson Mohammed Harun said Batinikama and Taveuni have been holding the title for two years in a row.

“We are happy to see that other teams have managed to shape up and make competition lively,” Harun said.

“The three teams that have qualified for the Premier division semifinals are Batinikama, Tadravula and Vunimoli while in the Super Premier division Korowiri, Seaqaqa and Wailevu are leading the points table.

The finals are held today.

Funds raised from the 10-day tournament would be used for the development works of the Labasa Muslim Primary School in Namara.
