Frank Lomani believes rugby players should be good role models on and off the field.

He made special mention yesterday of those in the Swire Shipping Warriors and Fiji Airways Fijian Drua team who took time out for a good cause.

The Nukubalavu, Savusavu native was also a member of the Swire Shipping community outreach programme at the Colonial War Memorial (CWM) Hospital Children’s Ward.

They painted the procedure room and visited the sick children.

“A good rugby player not only shows his ability on the field. But it’s more important off the field as it helps build character and makes you proud to be a citizen of Fiji,” Lomani said.

“I’m proud to be here, to visit the sick children who always admire and look up to us whether you are on or off the field.”

As for the game this week, Lomani said the Fiji Airways Fijian Drua needed a strong start against the Canberra Vikings in the sixth round of the Australian National Rugby Championship at Churchill Park, Lautoka, on Saturday.

“This is a big chance to secure a home semifinal,” he said.
