Judgment In Appeal Case Set For October 18

The judgment for a woman sentenced for obtaining money by false pretence has been adjourned to October 18.

Melisa Sera appeared before High Court judge Justice Thushara Rajasinghe for her judgment after her appeal against the sentence.

She was initially charged with Obtaining money by false pretence contrary to section 309(a) of the Penal Code.

Sera was found guilty by the Nausori Magistrates Court, however, she appealed her sentence. She is currently serving 25 months imprisonment with a non-parole period of 19 months.

Justice Rajasinghe had adjourned the judgement to October 18, because the judgement was not ready.

A production order was also issued for Sera to be present in court.
