Former national rugby captain Ratu Ilaitia Tuisese rates the late prop Nimilote Ratudina as a tough and responsible gentleman.

Ratudina and Ratu Ilaitia were members of the famous Fijian team that defeated the British & Irish Lions 25-21 in Suva in 1977.

Ratudina began his rugby career from Ratu Kadavulevu School before joining Suva Youths in 1967.

He played for Fiji from 1972-1979.

“He is one of the best props in our days,” Ratu Ilaitia said.

“We started our journey together from RKS and later he joined Suva while I was with Rewa.

“He was a tough man, one of the best, he was part of the Fiji team that played the All Blacks, British Lions and I enjoyed some good times and sad times with him.

“I was surprised to hear the news of his passing, a good team player, respected man as we always tour together.

“A great gentleman and I have a lot of respect for him, a very responsible man. So long Nimi.”

Ratudina is survived by his four children and 12 grandchildren and will be buried on October 10 at his village in Dakuni, Beqa.
