Labasa made a good start on day one of the 2018 Courts IDC as they walloped newly promoted Nasinu 5-1 at the ANZ Stadium, Suva, yesterday.

The Babasiga Lions roared the loudest in the first 45 minutes as they dominated play.

Led by senior players Ilisoni Logaivau, Lekima Gonerau and Taniela Waqa, the Babasiga Lions played an entertaining game.

Striker Christopher Wasasala scored the first goal and gave Nasinu no time to settle with former Tavua striker Vilitati Kautoga scoring a double.

Halftime: Labasa 3-0 Nasinu

Nasinu regrouped and lifted the momentum in the second half enabling Nasoni Mereke to score.

But Labasa were too hot to handle scoring two more goals to Wasasala and Pita Levaci.

Big Play; Labasa striker Vilitati Kautoga played a key role, a player to watch.

Star Turn; Nasinu put up a good fight in the second half.

Comments; Labasa coach Johan Leewai said: “I’m happy with Vilitati’s performance. Lautoka is next for us it will be a tough but we just had to play our best.”

Nasinu coach Nathan Shivam said: “Most of the players are playing for the first time in the Premier division and it’s a learning experience for them”.
