Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has given his assurance to the football fraternity that Government will always back the sport.
Speaking at the opening of the 2018 Courts Inter-District Championship, Bainimarama acknowledged the Fijian women for being ranked second in the Oceania region.
He also urged fans who turned up in numbers at the ANZ Stadium the importance of unity.
“Sports success depends on team work. Unity is our nation greatest strength, we must work together to put scores on the board,” he said.
“I know many people say that Fiii is a rugby nation but we are clearly football nation as well.”
“ This is a historic year for IDC as this tournament enters its 80th year,”
