Youth Role Strengthened In Democracy, Good Governance

More than 25 youths were engaged in the Youth Democracy Seminar aimed to equip youths in knowing the fundamental principles of democracy and good governance.
The two-day seminar at the FASANOC Conference Room earlier this week was organised by Dialogue Fiji under the Participative Democracy and Accountability Action (PDA).
PDA is funded by the European Union in partnership with the Citizens’ Constitutional Forum
Broderick Mervyn, an avid youth advocate and president of Ignite4Change said youths have an important role in democracy and good governance and should harness this role.
Mr Mervyn also acknowledged Dialogue Fiji and the European Union for this opportunity to be part of the seminar.
PDA’s objectives is to strengthen the role of civil society and communities in Fiji through the effective and sustained participation of civil society and marginalised groups on local and national policymaking.
Monisha Naidu, a youth participant in attendance said platforms as such were important to raise issues for youths such as herself.
As a future leader, Ms Naidu said she has a duty to disseminate the information she has received to her community, family and friends as democracy affects all members of society.
