The business community in Labasa has applauded the decision for Subrail Park to be venue of the 2018 Fiji Day celebration.

Labasa Chamber of Commerce and Industries president Satish Kumar said all business operators were happy be­cause they anticipate a boom in their business.

“I’m most thankful because the business district will be able to make more money with people coming from Viti Levu via airlines and by boat to be part of the celebration,” he said.

“The arrival of three military tankers and more than 600 Republic of Fiji Military Forces personnel conducting re­hearsals at Subrail Park from last week, have created ex­citement.

“The streets of Labasa and shops are decorated with Fiji flags and employees dressed up in special Fiji Day attire daily.”

Fiji Day celebration will begin with a march from Y-Cor­ner to Subrail Park led by Fiji Police Force band.

Commissioner Northern Jovesa Vocea is urging people of Vanua Levu to attend the Fiji Day celebration where the prime minister, president and all ministers will be present.

“This is history. For the first time Labasa will host Fiji Day national celebration,” Mr Vocea said.

“Dalip Chand and Son Buses Limited will provide free bus service according to the route they have been servicing.

“I believe everyone have been informed through different means of communication.

“Today (Tuesday) and tomorrow there will be a roadshow at Subrail Park Ground Two where all Government depart­ments and corporate organisations will display their ser­vices

“I am urging people of the North to come to the roadshow and gather as much information they want on Government services. Entry is free” Edited by Percy Kean
