20 Students Involved In Solevu Accident On Way To School, 1 Still In Hospital

Twenty students of Immaculate Conception College were taken to the Nabouwalu Subdivisional Hospital in Bua on Tuesday morning after they were involved in an accident.
A senior prefect of the school Melisio Tavasara said the incident happened around 8 am at Solevu, a few kilometres away from the school.
“The Rural Service Licence vehicle veered off the road and more than 20 students were inside travelling to school,” Melisio said.
“I was on my way to school also when I saw a few students who were injured standing at the site.”
Divisional Police Commander (DPC) Northern Senior Superintendent of Police Eparama Waqa has confirmed the incident.
“There were 24 passengers travelling in an RSL when the accident happened in Bua on Tuesday morning,” SSP Waqa said.
“I was informed by my officers that the principal of Immaculate Conception College brought 20 students to Nabouwalu Subdivisional Hospital in Bua to be treated. Some students were treated and sent home.
“Three were admitted at the hospital and one transferred to Labasa Hospital who sustained major injuries.
Three were discharged.
“We will take down all the reports of the students and driver soon,” he added as part of investigations.
