The Fiji Chefs Association marked International Chefs Day incorporating a programme with students of Mulomulo Primary School in Nadi last Friday.

The association said it was honoured to have celebrated this day in a big way, making this the fourth year that it was providing awareness to all who loved to cook and eat healthy food.

This year’s theme was, “Healthy Foods for Growing Up” and the event involved a day full of fun learning, masterclass cooking demonstrations, character parade, poster competitions and school students paired to toss their signature green and fruit salads.

FCA President Davendra Reddy said International Chefs Day offered everyone around the globe a unique opportunity to network, promote profession to future chefs and make a difference in the local community by making healthy eating fun and exciting for kids.

“The World Association of Chefs Societies has committed to using International Chefs Day to educate kids around the world about the importance of healthy eating,” he said.

“In doing so, we hope to expose kids to the culinary profession and teach them good eating habits they can carry with them for life.”

He added this day was more vibrant having the teachers demonstrating their skills in regards to healthy eating.

The association thanked its sponsors and Mulomulo Primary School teachers and management for the hard work that made the day a successful one.

The event was sponsored by Hard-rock Cafe, Lomani Island Resort, Crest Chicken, RHUM-BA, Fonterra, Fiji Gas, Satish Kumar vegetables and Signs Pacific.

Meanwhile, Fiji Chefs AGM will be held on the October 16 at FNU Namaka Campus.

“This date suits well as many of us will be around the venue due to 2018 Moffatt Salon Culinaire commencing on the day. The meeting agenda and minutes of 2017 AGM will be sent in due course,” Mr Reddy said.
