Fijian boxers have been urged to prepare well when travelling to fight overseas and refrain from making wild predictions in the media.

This was the view of New Zealand Boxing Commission Commissioner Faiyaz Khan after Fijian heavyweight boxer James Singh was knocked out in the first round by New Zealand’s light heavyweight champion David Light in Auckland on Saturday night.

“Preparations should be the highest order when a fighter travels to fight overseas and predictions should be kept at a minimal level,” he said.

The Fijian was simply no match for Light who’s powerful left cross hit him on the head sending him to the canvas.

Meanwhile, Light is now lined-up to fight Fiji’s Savenaca Naliva on November 2 for the vacant World Boxing Foundation Intercontinental cruiserweight title. –
