Two Cops Questioned In Murder Probe

Two Police officers involved in the arrest of 00, who died after being allegedly assaulted by Police officers last month, are being questioned.

However, in a media statement Police confirmed no arrests had been made yet.

Post mortem examination classified the case as murder.

The investigation is being carried out the Criminal Investigations Department, following a directive from the Commissioner of Police Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho.

Meanwhile, Mr Lalauvaki’s girlfriend, Melania Davetawalu, shared fond memories of Mr Lalauvaki and how he would attract a crowd with his contagious laughter.

She was the one who had lodged a complaint with Police, the day after Mr Lalauvaki died.

“I hope justice will be served for Josh,” she said.

“What attracted me to him was his smile. He was always smiling, always laughing.

“We talked about anything and everything.

“We chose to love each other and focus on our future together,” she said.

The Kiuva lad was said to be passionate about rugby and according to his girlfriend, she said he treated it as more than just a game.

“I have never seen anyone get so committed with a sport.”

Mr Lalauvaki’s burial is on Friday in Kiuva.
