Former FijiFirst parliamentarian Alivereti Nabulivou said he applied for a Unity Fiji ticket after attempts to contact FijiFirst party leader Voreqe Bainimarama to reconsider his rejected application failed.

Mr Nabulivou sent numerous messages to FijiFirst Party Leader Voreqe Bainimarama and was shocked and surprised that his application was rejected.

“I applied for a FijiFirst seat,” he said.

“I went through the procedure of interview and shortlisting and they informed me that my application was rejected after two weeks.

“They called me and also sent me a letter. I was shocked and surprised too because I was a FijiFirst candidate in the last election.”

He said after he was rejected by FijiFirst he made attempts to contact Mr Bainimarama, but to no avail.

“After my application was rejected I sent a series of text messages, emails and calls to the Prime Minister asking him to reconsider my application. However, I never got any reply at all.

“I applied to Unity Fiji when I did not get any response from Mr Bainimarama.”

He said he also awaited confirmation from the Bose ni Vanua o Naitasiri before applying for a Unity Fiji ticket.

“I got no response from PM and they also got no response from PM. They wrote to him,” Mr Nabulivou said.

“When they got no response I told them that I needed to stand for election to represent my people and they told me to go ahead and go for any party so the only party I chose is Mr Savenaca Narube’s party.”

He claimed that he chose Unity Fiji party because their motto was Unity, uniting the people of Fiji.
