Three-digit numbers have been assigned to all the 235 candidates for the 2018 General Election.

This was after the 2018 National Candidate List Ball Draw at Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva yesterday.

As announced by the Fijian Elections Office earlier, the number 666 was not part of the barrel draw.

FijiFirst, SODELPA and National Federation Party each have 51 candidates contesting under their perspective banner.  Fiji Labour Party has 25 while HOPE has 28 candidates. Unity Fiji will field 29 candidates.

Meanwhile, Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem encouraged all registered voters to ensure that they were familiar with the three-digit number of the candidate they wished to vote for and at the same time to check where they were assigned to cast their ballot.

“This is to ensure that voters have ample time to familiarise themselves with the number of the candidate they wish to vote for,” Mr Saneem said.

“The FEO will publish the National Candidates List on a billboard situated at prominent locations so that there is more visibility around the candidate numbers.”

He said voter instruction booklets would be distributed to the maritime areas as soon as they are ready so the people get the information about the candidate numbers as soon as possible since they will start voting from November 5.
