Postal Ballot Papers Moved To FEO Storage Facility

Twenty-thousand postal ballot papers were transported to the Fijian Elections Office warehouse from Star Printery yesterday.
The media had the first glance at the transportation process and witnessed the high level of security in place.
The postal packs were wrapped in cover sheets and packed inside 14 cartons.
The boxes were offloaded and moved to a secured storage area at the FEO warehouse at Laucala Beach Estate, Nasinu, with controlled entry and exit monitored by Police officers.
The Police officers escorted the ballot papers in the company of the FEO officials.
“We are treating every ballot paper with the utmost seriousness,” Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem said.
“We will continue to transport ballot papers as they are ready and the same protocols and dispatch receipt mechanism will be applied.
“Police will be providing security to this facility as well as other FEO usage facility 24/7.
“We are confident that these procedures ensure the highest level of security for ballot papers and the tracking mechanisms for ballot papers is also very transparent and we will ensure that all ballot papers are correctly recorded and accountable at the end.
“We are confident with this process and we keep a very close eye on ballot papers and its movements.”
