Five reps, still recovering from food poisoning, helped the Fiji Airways Fijian Drua book a spot in the final of the National Rugby Championships, it was revealed last night.

Coach Senirusi Seruvakula made the revelation after his side scored a sensational come-from-behind 35-28 victory against Canberra Vikings in the semi-final at Churchill Park, Lautoka yesterday.

The players were skipper Mosese Voka, Lepani Raiyala, Apisalome Waqatabu, Eremasi Radrodro, and Levani Kurumudu.

“Five of us were admitted in the hospital and all of them did a good job today,” Seruvakula said.

“We were poisoned and also had diarrhoea. That’s why we didn’t have the captain’s run yesterday (Friday) so they were taken to hospital and everything was done. We had to pay for the doctor to come and stay with them at the hotel. I also stayed with them the whole time till the morning.

“Even Waqatabu couldn’t even walk.

“I asked them a last question, if they can do it. They all said that they were all ready to play for the Drua today. It’s the pride in the jersey. That was a big plus.”
