A Memorandum of Agreement between the Fiji Police Force and the Nauru Police Force to enhance police-to-police co-operation between the two institutions was extended.

The signing is expected to strengthen people-to-people exchanges and training opportunities offered by Fiji.

Fiji’s Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho said the Fiji Police Force was always ready to lend a helping hand to smaller island nations.

“Fiji will always remember fellow Pacific Island nations because we need to work together to tackle issues and crime as a region and we are happy to formalise this agreement and ensure the continuity of our working relationship,” he said.

“The passing out of the Nauru Police officers this week is another practical outcome of our engagements to date and the people-to-people exchange programmes will be further strengthened following the signing.”
