Nasilasila, Kunavula Ruled Out Of Oceania 7s

The Fiji Airways Fijian 7s star playmaker Amenoni Nasilasila and forward Mesulame Kunavula have been ruled out of the Oceania 7s tournament which is on November 9-10 at the ANZ Stadium, Suva.
It is likely they could miss the opening leg of the 2018/19 HSBC World Sevens Series. This was confirmed to SUNsports yesterday by coach Gareth Baber indicating that the players are undergoing rehab.
“We’ve a couple of injuries to Mesulame and Amenoni and they will continue their rehab for the next six weeks,” he said.
“I want them to be as strong and as robust as possible. Not just for this season but also for their future careers as well. “It is important that we look after them accordingly.”
Baber added that there have been new inclusions into the national 7s team.
“We’ve Napolioni Ratu, Peni Vota, Suli Volivoli, Elia Canakaivata and Vereniki Tiko. We are doing okay and we have played in a couple of tournaments.”
The national 7s team recently played at the Nabukelevu-i-ra 7s tournament in Kadavu and the Turnbull Namamanuca 7s tournament in Yanuya, Malolo.
Nasilasila’s absence could mean the opportunity for Teri Tamani to play in the series and another added boost is the return of Olympian and powehouse playmaker Kitione Taliga.
