A new 15-seater van will now ensure much improved operational activities for the staff of the Technical College of Fiji, Arya Campus, in Labasa.

Acting principal Yogesh Chandra thanked the Government for the assistance.

Mr Chandra said teachers had to use their own vehicles previously while going out on field assignments to assess students work.

“We did not have any school vehicle so teachers generally had to use their own vehicles,” he said.

Mr Chandra said that the nature of lessons at the school required frequent visits by teachers in order to assess students on field assignments.

“We used staff vehicles for the college’s marketing purposes and home visits to students as well,” he said.

“In the long run, this timely assistance will be a major boost to the school in terms of our progress and development.”

Fabrication and Welding teacher Niten Prasad said that he had been using his own vehicle since the school opened in 2015.

Fuel costs were provided by the school, however the wear and the tear of the vehicle was not accounted for.

“Nevertheless, we all feel so happy that we have been helped by the Government,” Mr Prasad said.

The school has a roll of about 300 students.
