The Vodafone national women’s team recorded an impressive 5-0 win over Samoa in the first of the FIFA International friendlies at Fiji Football Association Academy ground in Ba yesterday.

The Marika Rodu-coached side failed to settle in the first 10 minutes as they missed several sitters.

However, Fiji got the opener in the 14th minute before Jotivini Tabua doubled the lead a minute later. Tabua got her second goal as they led 3-0 at half time.

Missing out once again on few golden opportunities, Luisa Tamanitoakula netted the fourth goal before Cema Nasau sealed the win.

Rodu was satisfied with the win, however, he said the team still lacks on a few areas which needs to be polished.

“We took the game seriously. We tried out some of our game plan. It’s good that we are able to work things out before the OFC Nations Cup.”

The second match will be played on Thursday.
