Leaders of various political parties have been invited to attend tonight’s State dinner in honour of the visiting Duke and Duchess of Sussex Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at Suva’s Grand Pacific Hotel.

They are looking forward to meeting the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Unity Fiji Partly leader Savenaca Narube said he was delighted to have been invited to the dinner.

“I am honoured to be part of the State dinner and I am looking forward to it,” Mr Narube said.

“It is a time to put aside all political issues and honour the guests.”

National Federation Party leader Biman Prasad said, “I am looking forward to the occasion. It is an honour to get to meet the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.”

Humanity Opportunity Prosperity and Equality party leader Tupou Draunidalo said, “It is a very good and gracious of his Excellency to invite political leaders who represent their parties and supporters”.

When contacted at 4.30pm yesterday Fiji Labour Party leader Mahendra Chaudhry and Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) leader Sitiveni Rabuka said they had not received an invitation yet.

FLP parliamentary leader Aman Ravindra Singh confirmed after midday yesterday that an invitation for the party had not been received.

Opposition Leader Ro Teimumu Kepa has been invited and will sit at the heads table with the royal couple.
