Jiten Prasad took out the snooker tournament at the Nausori Club on Sunday.

Speaking to SUNsports yesterday Nausori Club vice-president Tomasi Gaunavinaka said he was impressed with the participants that took part during the three- day tournament

“I’m really happy to see what our local players have shown,” Gaunavinaka said

“This year’s tournament has changed a lot as the players behaved during their games.

“This is not a well-known sport in our country but we’ll try and build it so that people will be able to play it.”

Gaunavinaka said the main focus of hosting the tournament is to help set a standard for the spot.

“We will be looking forward to the coming year and hope that we will be able to get some support as well.

“With the potentials shown during the tournament I think we will be trying our best to be part of the Oceania Games in the future.

Meanwhile, Prasad walked away with $1000 while runner up Erenio Pene pocketed $400.
