Jokhan Hits Back At Prasad, Iyer

FijiFirst candidate Reginald Jokhan has hit back at National Federation Party (NFP) candidate Kamal Iyer, who released an email in an attempt to reveal that Mr Jokhan advised a client on rent payment.

A new twist came about when the recipient of the email broke his silence and said the confidential email, which was revealed by Mr Iyer, did not tell the whole story.

The man who did not want to be named said he was looking at a new investment in Fiji and Mr Jokhan advised him to ensure the rental income was kept high since there was a rent freeze in Fiji.

He said the advice from Mr Jokhan was received on a new investment they were doing in Fiji instead of raising rent on an existing property.

Mr Jokhan said: “This is the gutter level politician Biman is, who goes out and creates such stories about others.

“They are spreading this to the people of Fiji. Social media and radio stations need to let the people of our country know and understand that all those rumours were lies to quickly turn the attention to me,” he said.

Mr Iyer said: “It is cowardly of Mr Jokhan to threaten me.”

Mr Jokhan said: “All Biman has done is turning the entire story and pointing a finger at me. This is exactly what he will do when he enters politics again. Turn stories, point fingers to others to cover his back.

Mr Prasad said: “My lawyers will get in touch with Mr Jokhan soon”.

Mr Jokhan said: “Jokhan Realtors Limited is not out to recover the money, but to open the eyes of the Fijians by asking them will they trust people like Biman with their children’s future.”

Mr Iyer released an email showing Mr Jokhan advising a client to ensure the rent is higher given the rent freeze in Fiji.

His email came after Mr Jokhan claimed that Mr Prasad still owed him some commission from 2004 when he had sold Mr Prasad’s house in Nasinu.

Mr Prasad said all the commission was paid.
