Stakeholders in the maritime industry will converge at Mua-i-Walu House tomorrow for morning tea to raise funds for the Fiji Cancer Society.

The Pinktober charity event is organised by the Fiji Ports Corporation Limited (FPCL) and its subsidiary company, Fiji Ships and Heavy Industries Limited (FSHIL).

FPCL Public Relations and Customer Service Officer Losalini Bolatagici says the charity event marks the end to its Pinktober campaign, joining the nation’s fight against cancer.

She said the “Morning Tea” is being organised with the aim of raising money for cancer victims and to raise awareness on cancer, which is one of the major contributing factors to our annual mortality rate in Fiji.

“The funds that will be collected from FPCL’s inaugural event will entirely be donated to the Fiji Cancer Society to assist them in funding medical needs for the victims and assist them in their cancer battle,” Mrs Bolatagici said.

She said FPCL and FSHIL are proud to host this event as part of their social corporate responsibilities; however, they were not able to achieve much without the support of their stakeholders.

Close to $7000 was raised last year. Companies that attended the inaugural event included Carpenters Shipping Limited, Seaquest Fiji Limited, Solander Pacific Limited, South Sea Towage Limited, Fiji Ports Terminal Limited, Swire Shipping Limited, Export Freight Service Fiji Limited, Golden Ocean and Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji.

Mrs Bolatagici has thanked their stakeholders for their continuous support; they look forward to another success event this year.

The charity drive will be held on Thursday, October 25 at Level 2 Mua-i-Walu House from 10-11am.
