Persistence paid off for Miriam Navuku.

She finally gave her gift, a ‘iri ni Daku’ for ‘Baby Sussex’ to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Her mother, Vasiti Navuku, said she could not stop talking on the drive back to school.

Early yesterday Miriam and her brother Navitalai were positioned at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva on their second attempt to pass
on their gift. They managed to catch Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle before they departed for their University of the
South Pacific engagement.

After receiving the iri ni Daku, the royal couple shook hands with Miriam.

Miriam and Navitalai had organised with the womenfolk of their village in Daku, Tailevu, for a special fan to be made in honour of the
royal couple’s unborn baby.
