The spotlight is on two 2018 General Election candidates who have been accused of owing money to a Savusa­vu company.

They are Unity Fiji Party candidate Lai­tia Matalomani and SODELPA candidate Nilesh Jaduram.

A company spokesperson, who did not want the company’s and his identity made public, said he brought up this issue be­cause they were candidates in this elec­tion.

Mr Matalomani claimed he had settled the issue with the company.

Mr Jaduram said: “We are paying them slowly and we have paid them once early this year, but I am not sure because my ac­counting team handles that.”

But the company spokesperson said Mr Matalomani had not settled the debt.

He claimed Mr Matalomani had bought hardware items from their shop on vari­ous occasions.

He claimed Mr Matalomani had given them four cheques, which had been re­turned from the bank because the account of the company he worked for was closed.

“We have filed a case against him at the Savusavu Police Station,” the company spokesperson said.
