The spotlight is on two 2018 General Election candidates who have been accused of owing money to a Savusavu company.

They are Unity Fiji Party candidate Laitia Matalomani and SODELPA candidate Nilesh Jaduram.

A company spokesperson, who did not want the company’s and his identity made public, said he brought up this issue because they were candidates in this election.

Mr Matalomani claimed he had settled the issue with the company.

Mr Jaduram said: “We are paying them slowly and we have paid them once early this year, but I am not sure because my accounting team handles that.”

But the company spokesperson said Mr Matalomani had not settled the debt.

He claimed Mr Matalomani had bought hardware items from their shop on various occasions.

He claimed Mr Matalomani had given them four cheques, which had been returned from the bank because the account of the company he worked for was closed.

“We have filed a case against him at the Savusavu Police Station,” the company spokesperson said.
