I want to be a princess, says three-year-old Yllaina Simmons after she hugged the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle yesterday.

She was among the 30 kindergarten students of Bright Little Ones Children Services at the University of the South Pacific during the visit of the royal couple.

When questioned on how she felt after hugging Meghan, she said: “It feel so good, I am happy.”

The school’s assistant director Vere Waqalala said they did not expect the royals to shake hands with them.

“We handpicked 30 of the children and we brought them here to have a glimpse of the Prince and the lady,” she said.

“But we did not expect this and we are so fortunate,” she said.

Meanwhile, there was a cultural performance by Pasifika Voices and Oceania Dance Theatre inspired by the effects of climate change.

The Duke and Duchess took about 10 minutes to meet with the University students and they were offered gifts.
