The defence lawyer in Shazran Abdul Lateef’s case yesterday informed the court that they will write to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) to reconsider the charge.

Lateef is charged with one count of being found in possession of illicit drugs.

He appeared before Suva Magistrate Liyanage Wickramasekara yesterday.

It is alleged that on August 7, 2018, at about 6pm a team of Police officers raided a Suva hotel after receiving a tip-off.

The accused was allegedly found with 0.0136 grams of methamphetamine.

Defence lawyer Devanesh Sharma informed the court that they will write a formal letter to the ODPP to ask them to reconsider the charge against Lateef.

The matter was adjourned for mention to November 21.

The accused’s bail was extended.
