Rugby League’s Gala Day Today

Development is the main focus for Fiji National Rugby League and Nation­al Rugby League (NRL) Fiji as they host the Vodafone Primary Schools Gala Day at Albert Park, Suva today.

The one-day event will see the participa­tion of seven schools from the Central divi­sion featuring 26 teams of boys and girls in the Under-10, U12 and U14 grades.

NRL Fiji manager Ema Vereivalu said sharing the same vision with FNRL, they hope to support the national federation achieving success.

“We are excited and hope we will produce positive results,” she said.

“We share the same vision with FNRL and that is to develop pathways for our players from grassroot to elite level.

“NRL will continue to support FNRL KAL­AWA plans to achieve success.”

Vodafone Fiji Sponsorship manager Adriu Vakarau said they were delighted to be part of the programme.

“We are going to support the KALAWA vi­sion, we have signed up for another four years. “We believe it’s going to be a new direction for the sport and we thank the teachers for their support,”he said.

FNRL development manager Etonia Na­wasetawa acknowledged Ministry of Edu­cation for giving the green light to host the event.

“We encouraging all parents and friends to come out in numbers on Saturday and support the children,” Nawasetawa said.
