Ratu Filise win CMFI 7s

Ratu Filise were crowned the new CMFI Macuata 7s tournament winners at Subrail Park, Labasa, yesterday.
The Namatakula-based side from the Coral Coast walloped First Light Taveuni 12-0 in the final.
Defending champions Westfield Renwick went down 21-5 to First Light Taveuni in the Cup semi-final.
Westfield had the services of national 7s forward Sevuloni Mocenacagi and Vatemo Ravouvou.
But during the Cup final all Ratu Filise’s points came from tries to Laveno Tamani and Borosio Naqamu for the 12-0 lead at halftime.
There were no points scored in the second half.
Ratu Filise head coach Etika Tovilevu said despite the win there were loopholes in their game that they need to work on.
“First Light is a good team but the win today was through team work,” he said.
First Light Taveuni coach Ilikesa Ratu said the competition in this year’s tournament was tough.
“We lost to a good team, they taught us what rugby is and we need to touch up in our teamwork and defence.” he said.
In the Under-19 side, Vueti Cakau took home the trophy after defeating Pacific Light 10-5. And in the Tier Two Final Wailevu Tunuloa nailed Pacific Light 10-5.
